Our forums are catalysts for leadership growth focusing on the total leader in a number of core areas:
What is a Leadership Forum?
Each Transformation Leadership Forum consists of 10 leaders who meet on a regular basis to exchange and share information, ideas, opinions and experiences on a variety of issues in a safe and supportive atmosphere, resulting in professional and personal growth.
What do members get from Leadership Forums?
The groups provide members with significant value, including:
Why are Leadership Forums valuable to my organization or a nation?
1. Build a world-class team of leaders
Interacting with peers- this is a viable leadership development strategy which is proven to reap a lot of rewards.
2. Achieve competitive advantage
Strengths are easily imparted on each other in a small group environment. Leadership can never be a mass production. Jesus Himself the greatest leader of all time had to deal with the twelve, and these are the ones he equipped to go and change the world.
3. Create a culture of inclusion
The principles, practices and protocols of leadership forums lay the groundwork for diversity. Forum is an inclusive process that demonstrates the value of different opinions, perspectives and approaches in a variety of situations.
4. Nurture a learning environment
Leadership forums exist to foster information and idea exchange. The forum process effectively manages the three phases of group development. Participants address the issues of inclusion and control and quickly move into openness where true learning takes place.
5. Enhance high-fidelity communication
Participants in forum discover that the communication protocol used in forum is effective in all areas of their lives (i.e., relationships with their immediate leaders, peers, direct reports, family members, friends, etc.).
How do the forums work?
Equality is an important dynamic. Members participate in the forums not only to get something for themselves, but also to give something to others.
In a high-trust environment, members meet for three to four hours once a month to talk about topics and issues they often cannot discuss anywhere else. The groups are member-led and self-managed. Members decide on the topics and issues they want to discuss, so the subject matter is always relevant. Members share their own experiences and ask thought-provoking questions, which leads to lively exchanges that have a high level of take-home value. Meetings generally do not include outside speakers, consultants or suppliers.
What is discussed?
The group's initial focus is on business concerns (e.g., building a team, creating a competitive advantage, managing a disruptive employee, negotiating win-win solutions).
As trust builds, the groups often expand the agenda to include some family matters (e.g., raising children with values, retirement planning, aging parents). Over time, members may begin to explore issues of a more personal nature (e.g., Am I doing what I want to be doing? What is the significance of my life?). Friendships naturally develop and there is a strong feeling of community. Jesus Christ is always the centre of these forums. How are forums launched?
The groups are launched with a one-day training program developed by LEAD International, a Christian professional learning and development organisation. In this session, the group members establish their norms, outline their agenda format, learn about group dynamics and experience their first forum meeting. This approach positions the group for success by ensuring that all members understand the process and can take responsibility for their experience.
Interaction with other forums
LEAD International will organize and one day conferences in which specialists in a number of areas are brought in to deal with areas of their specialty. LEAD Alumni from different forums will have an opportunity to cross pollinate with other leaders from other forums.
